| Can I even begin to do what I so desperately wanted to do by the end of the past summer? We shall see. If I DO, them hopefully God's word will have reached the homes of hundreds (if not dozens) of YFC leaders. Come conference, hopefully we'll ALL have the right mindset, which hopefully in turn trickles down to each or our respective household members.
I can be done. Do I need help? Yes. I will, but we'll see how much help from other people I actually take up. Like St Augustine said, "work like God won't help you, but Pray like you can't do it without him."
| Fallen... but we all have to at least TRY to get back up sooner or later (God prefers "sooner", in case you were wondering ). | | |
| "i believe God uses "emotion" to sort of lure people to Him. it's sort of a gateway to God. the best way to communicate to a person is thru their heart. God knows this. it's simple and profound.
what you are stating is necessary for those who have already come face to face with God in an honest and humble manner and have truly surrended and given their life to Jesus.
i guess a prayer we can have before and during the conference. is really just to work.
"Lord just work your way. regardless if it excites me, bores me or makes me feel a certian way.""

| Before stepping foot in the conference venue, we have to think realistically. We have to think about whether our actions and reactions of the conference are based on EMOTIONS… On FEELINGS. When we worship the Lord, is it GOD who’s bringing us to tears? Or is it simply ourselves getting caught up in the moment? Don’t expect to have some BIG revelation coming out of conference. I’m not saying that we SHOULDN’T have any revelations… we just shouldn’t expect it. The same thing applies to worship. We don’t worship and go to conference to feed our emotions, or to hope for something BIG. We’re going for God. We must keep worship STRICTLY for God, not for ourselves. We must keep conference FOR God, instead of treating it like it’s OUR event. It’s not necessarily bad that we’re open with our emotions, but bringing it back to one of the first things I’ve mentioned: GOD COMES FIRST
Before conference, let us ask ourselves
“ARE OUR EMOTIONS AND SELFISHNESS GETTING INBETWEEN ME AND GOD?”
| "Faith and practices can definitely survive without YFC on the condition that people get spiritual nourishment elsewhere. I think the problem lies in the fact that for most people, YFC is the only place where the issues of God and Religion and Christianity are directly addressed. If an event isn't held for long enough or if a strong relationship isn’t formed between leaders and members, fire fades.
The reason there is so much "fire" up to and around Conference is because we see the embodiment of YFC right in front of us. We don’t have to take someone else's word that there are YFC everywhere in the world just like us, or that things are moving and changing. We can SEE the people, sense the desire and faith and most importantly realize that we are not alone.
After a while though, people tend to forget what they saw and it becomes easier to stop because we lose this sense of "vision". The solution is to maintain it through our leaders, because vision is what SUSTAINS us through both highs and lows. The reason Dj_pimpin didn't simply say no to leading the camp was because he did not forget our purpose and vision but instead held on to it and led a kick butt retreat.
My 2 cents"
